"The only way we can ensure adequate protection of foreign investment and rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina is by providing alternative to the (still) inefficient judiciary system. So we need to start changing the mind-set and break all misconceptions related to arbitration among business and legal community of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In order to effectively achieve that presented alternative needs to have sufficient credibility, be neutral, not too expensive and not too "foreign". VIAC and Vienna seem to meet all those criteria more than any other institution in the region."
lma Kasumagić is an independent attorney at law in cooperation with Wolf Theiss and member of Wolf Theiss Regional Arbitration Team with over 10 years of experience.
 
She focuses on commercial disputes especially in the context of insolvencies and in and out of court debt restructurings. She has advised and represented clients in numerous large-scale projects and commercial disputes in BiH, and was representing and advising clients in various international (commercial, construction and investment) arbitration matters under major international arbitration rules.
 
In cooperation with US Department of Commerce, she coordinated the implementation of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot project in BiH.
 
She is one of the co-authors of the publications “Dispute Resolution in Central, Eastern & Southeastern Europe” (2018), “International Arbitration in Central, Eastern & Southeastern Europe” (2018) and “Balkan Yearbook of European and International Law” (2019).
