8th DIS Baltic Arbitration Days

Beschreibung

The 8th DIS Baltic Arbitration Days will be held in Riga from 13 to 14 June 2019.

Since 2012 the DIS Baltic Arbitration Days attract each year more than 100 legal practitioners and academics from more than 15 countries to the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. The conference has developed into one of the most popular forums in the region of Central- and Eastern Europe for lawyers, arbitrators, and academics, to discuss current topics and share best practices related to commercial and investment arbitration.

The topics of the 2019 conference are arbitration in construction and public procurement disputes, new developments in investment arbitration, as well as the effect BREXIT may have on the practice of arbitration professionals. The relevant issues are presented in international expert panels, and put to an open discussion involving all participants. Key note speakers of the 2019 event are the renowned arbitration experts Heidi Merikall-Teir (Finland) and Prof Jörg Risse (Germany). The key note presentations are transmitted via stream on the conference website www.balticarbitration.com.

This year, Estonia, Finland, the Russian Federation and Ukraine are in the focus of the DIS Baltic Arbitration Days, however, the range of country represented in the panels goes far beyond these. Next to lawyers and arbitrators, also a number of academics and students participate, in particular from CIS countries and Ukraine, supported by a stipend program.

A varied social program offers city sightseeing, a seaside dinner at the Jurmala beach resort, a riverboat cruise, and other events. The spouse program is a tour of Rigas art museums. The DIS Baltic Arbitration Days are an excellent platform to meet and greet experts and those interested in commercial and investment arbitration.

VIAC supports this conference as media partner and will be represented by its legal counsel, Silvia Freisehner.

Online registration is open until 10 June 2019. Please register here.
